Minister Lau paid a visit to the Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice, and advised all senior officers at the correctional institutions to seize the moment and to achieve self-accomplishment.

Minister Luo of Ministry of Justice placed much importance on the administrative performance of the various policy programs that each Agency of Corrections was promoting. On October 30, 2013 at 3 PM in the afternoon, after officiating the commencement ceremony of the expanding construction of Taipei Prison's interview room, he was accompanied by Vice-Minister Zheng-Wu Chen, to visit the Agency of Corrections and gave a seminar to the colleagues to extend his encouragement.

 

When the minster addressed a speech, he not only shared his work experience, but also expressed the view that the public's feelings should combine with the prison administrative policies. He implied that this was especially important for the "Visiting Room" and the "customer service desk", which is the first contact location of the public with the Agency of Corrections. A system should be established so as to create a comfortable and convenient environment that is suitable for business administration to meet the diverse needs of the public. He hoped the colleagues at the Agency of Corrections should feel for others when they are servicing the public so that they may turn complaints into gratitude, thus creating a positive cycle. The minister also advocated the idea of an "Encouraging Hand" of which he spoke from personal experience. This will not only encourage others but will also confirm oneself in the hope that the colleagues will not feel regretful at the end of their lives. Furthermore, he acknowledged the various reforms done by the Agency of Corrections in recent years. He thanked all the colleagues at the agency for their commitment and devotion and hoped that they will continue to uphold the attitude of "good practice in the office" to increase one's blessings and, most importantly, seize the moment and pursue one's self-realization.

 

When the minister asked senior officers at the agency to share their work experience, the director-general also pointed out two points that reflected the thoughts of the colleagues. Firstly, it is unreasonable that when the business of second instance is heavy but the job level of a section chief is slightly on the low side. In addition, the colleagues at the Agency of Corrections should train to strengthen their physical skills and courage. With this in mind, plans should be made to construct a multi-functional gymnasium. The minister also responded in a timely manner. Apart from confirming the long-term effect of the moralization given by the Agency of Corrections, he also praised the colleagues for the effort associated with the high risk that came with taking in inmates above quota.

 

The minister was accompanied by the director and deputy director of the Agency of Correction to visit the software and hardware of equipment and to see the result of the technical training. They also went to the pond at the back of the agency to see the current popular yellow duck and various creative designs made by the Changhua Prison. The minister said that with the beautiful environment and the harmonious atmosphere of the agency, he encouraged the colleagues to bring team spirit into full play and to do one's best. He inspired the Agency of Corrections to strive for further improvement and to face the challenges with courage. Finally, the event finished with a perfect ending with the minister, the various directors of the Agency of Corrections and the colleagues of the agency enthusiastically taking a group photo.
