Master teaches about Love during the Ghost Festival Ceremony at the Taipei Juvenile Detention House    2016/08/16
(2016-08-16) The Taipei Juvenile Detention House held the Ghost Festival Ceremony today and invited Master Jing Yao who has been teaching prison inmates for 32 years. As the host, Master Jing Yao led the reading of the Sutra of the Past Vows of Earth Store Bodhisattva with juvenile inmates. (Reported on-site by Yuan Zhihao, UDN)

Today, the Taipei Juvenile Detention House held the Ghost Festival Ceremony hosted by Master Jing Yao, who has been teaching prison inmates for 32 years. He led the reading of the Sutra of the Past Vows of Earth Store Bodhisattva with juvenile inmates in the morning and hosted the Feeding Ritual and the Chanting & Praying Ritual in the afternoon, spreading selfless love to the inmates and praying that they would bring harmony to society after their release.

The ceremony began with the Cleansing Ritual officiated by Master Jing Yao and three teams of monks who then led the juveniles and staff to read the Sutra of the Past Vows of Earth Store Bodhisattva. In the afternoon, they conducted the Feeding Ritual also known as the Ghost Festival Relief.

Yu Shu-hua, chief of the Taipei Juvenile Detention House, conveyed that only with love and commitment can life become more brilliant, more perfect and happier. She thanked the hard work of Master Jing Yao who has shared love with every juvenile inmate through Buddhism. The House was embraced in a solemn atmosphere, symbolizing a new start to peaceful days ahead.
